Ross Kenseth being talked about at Gibbs racing
The future of 19 yr old racer Ross Kenseth was talked about this week during the announcement of his father Matt moving over to race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series with Joe Gibbs racing in 2013.
"We think alot of Ross," said Joe Gibbs racing president J.D. Gibbs "we are developing a lot of young guys right now and I hope he is a part of that in the future."
Joe Gibbs racing driver Kyle Busch also mentioned Ross in an interview saying that he was going to talk to Matt about getting Ross to drive one of his Super Late Models in 2013.
Ross really ran well in the ASA Midwest tour in 2010, he finished fourth in the points, with 1 win and 4 "Top 5" finishes in only 11 races. His one win was at Elko (MN) Speedway holding off Chris Wimmer in an epic battle that lasted about 30 laps side by side.
He also impressed many in 2011 scoring 3 wins and 6 "Top 5" finishes in 11 races. He was forced to miss the race at Raceway Park in Shakopee (MN) that year to attend orientation at Clemson college, so he dropped in the point standings.
What has impressed me is that he is smooth and fast without tearing up equipment, he stays calm and does not make mistakes usually made by young drivers.
This year has been a bit inconsistent for Ross, jumping around mainly in the CRA and PASS South series, but he has a win at Orange County Speedway in North Carolina and Anderson Speedway in Indiana for the Red Bud 300.
It looks like Ross will get some new help and new sets of eyes on his racing career in 2013.
