Dean Reller winner of Allmendinger Cup

It couldn't have been closer at the finish. With Jimmie Johnson scoring a 5th place finish at Homestead and Jeff Gordon sixth. Dean Reller picked up one point and tie Jordan Bianchi in the standings.

It went down to the tie-breaker .. Jimmie won the NASCAR point title by 141 pts and Dean was closer to that prediction than Jordan so, by the closest margain, Dean wins the AJ Allmendinger car.

Thanks all you fans for following along with our competition this year.

Kelly Bires interview on Trackside

Kelly Bires won an ASA Late Model race at Elko a few years ago, a race Dean and Jason broadcast on KRWC. He will be driving in the Nationwide series for Dale Earnhardt Jr in 2010.

Here is an interview with Kelly on Trackside

http://www.nascar.com/video/cup/2009/11/21/cup.hom.speed.trackside.nascar/index.html

Drama at Homestead

Its come down to the final race of the Chase in our weekly fantasy NASCAR competition, the prize is an awesome limited edition 1/24th die-cast of AJ Allmendinger.

Jordan leads Dean by just one point going into the season finale at Homestead FL.

Jordan gets first choice, and it was a tough 0ne. He thought about picking a Roush driver: Kenseth, Biffle or Edwards because of the Roush domination at Homestead in the past. He is going with JEFF GORDON, who has never won at Homestead (the only track on the schedule in which he is winless). He has run very well there though, he has five "top 5" finishes there in the last seven races.

The pressure is now on Dean, who needs to beat Jordan by two positions to win our competition, or one position to tie.

Dean is going with JIMMIE JOHNSON this weekend. Jimmie has only 2 "top 5" finishes at Homestead in the past, but he was very fast in practice and starts on the the pole position.

Dean thinks Jimmie will go for the win and capture his fourth straight NASCAR championship. Jimmie has been Dean's go-to guy this year, so he will go to the well one more time.

Jason is out of contention for the Allmendinger cup this year, but is looking to end the season with a winner. He picks JUAN PABLO MONTOYA to pick up his first ever oval track win at his current hometown of Homstead FL.

Juan Pablo lead a couple laps there last year and has improved at intermediate tracks in 2009. He was fast in practice and wants to win in front of his biggest group of fans this weekend.

In case Dean and Jordan tie after the race on Sunday, we dont want to cut the car in half so, we needed a tie breaker. It will be the final winning POINT DIFFERENCE between the champion and second place.

Jimmie Johnson currently has a 108 pt lead over Mark Martin and just needs to finish 25th place to clinch the championship.

Jordan thinks that Jimmie will lose some points and his winning margain will only be only 85pts. Dean takes the opposite position and thinks that Jimmie will increase his point lead over Mark Martin and win the championship by 160pts. If they tie, the one who is closer to the actual margain will win the car.

Allmendinger Cup Finale weekend

The three of us have been in a competition for the "AJ Allmendinger die cast" all year long, now it comes down to the final weekend at Homestead.

Jordan picked Denny Hamlin at Phoenix and scored 3 pts. Dean got the winner right, Jimmie Johnson and took home 5 pts. Jason went with Mark Martin, who finished 4th, and added 2 pts to his total.

Point standings going into the final race look like this. Jordan 25, Dean 24, Jason 17.

So that means the pressure is on for Jordan and Dean, they are just one point apart. We will have them not only pick a driver for the NASCAR finale, but also guess a point total that they think will be the margin of victory for the Sprint Cup champion on Sunday. That will be the tie-breaker if they end in a draw.

Picks will be posted by Noon on Saturday.

Jordan posted a couple interesting articles on his web-site this week. www.theracinggeek.com

Wissota Expo 2009

WISSOTA Expo 2009

By Dean Reller

St Cloud, MN (November 14 2009) - Racer's from all over the midwest converged at the St Cloud civic center for the 2009 WISSOTA Expo. The expo featured seminars on everything from race car set up, to driving techniques.

The most popular event was the trade show with many racing products on display and for sale. The booth with the most interest seemed to be the full sized Modified racing simulator. Aspiring racers sat in an actual Modified and turned laps in a simulated race, while the car responded just as it would on the track.

Following the expo, the WISSOTA National Awards Banquet was set to cap off the two-day gathering of race track racers and operators.

Phoenix NASCAR picks

With 22pts Jordan is still the leader in our "race for the Allmendinger cup." He gets first choice.... and the winner is.... DENNY HAMLIN.

Jordan thinks the Phoenix track fits his flat-track driving style, and even though he has never won there, he has and average finish of 6th in the last last six races at Phoenix.

for a full-field rundown go to Jordan's site http://www.theracinggeek.com/

Dean is still in second place with 19pts. He thinks JIMMIE JOHNSON will put his name in the history books by wrapping up his fourth championship and win the race at Phoenix.

Also watch out for Kyle Busch, Mark Martin and Tony Stewart

Jason is in last place in the point standings with 15pts. He will take MARK MARTIN to win at Phoenix. Mark has 2 wins there, including last spring. In the last 9 races at Phoenix he is second to only Jimmie Johnson in laps lead, and has an average finish of 9.9 (second best again to Jimmie).

If Mark gets maximum points at Phoenix and Jimmie finishes 15th or worse, we will have a new leader going to Homestead... It could happen!

Jeff Burton and Marcos Ambrose are sleepers in the desert.

NASCAR at Texas

Point leader Jimmie Johnson tangled with Sam Hornish Jr early in the race and finished 38th.

Mark Martin scored a fourth place finish at Texas and moved to within 73pts of Johnson in points.

Only two more races remain in the Chase for the Cup. This Sunday is Phoenix, a strong track for Mark Martin who took home a win there last spring.

PICKS for the Texas race

Jordan is the leader in our competition for the AJ Allmindinger Cup with 22pts .. so he is up first.

He picks Greg Biffle... Biffle has won at least one race since 2003, Jordan thinks that streak will continue after the #16 car scores a win at Texas.

Biffle won there in 2005 and has scored consecutive top 5 finishes at Texas.
For more NASCAR info click on this site http://www.theracinggeek.com/

Dean is second with 19 pts

He is going to pick Jeff Gordon... Dean thinks the #24 will win after knocking at the door the last few weeks.

Dean mentioned that Carl Edwards is the first driver who comes to mind when he thinks of Texas because of the way he has been running in the Nationwide series but, his Cup season has been a big disapointment.

He thinks Jimmie Johnson will play it cool because of his big points lead, maybe scoring another top 5 finish.

Other drivers to watch include: Mark Martin, Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne.

Jason is in last place with 15 pts an gets to pick last.

I will take the obvious pick, NASCAR Sprint Cup point leader Jimmie Johnson.

The #48 car has one win and 6 "top 5" finishes in his 12 starts at Texas.

Jimmie looked great in both practice sessions even though his teammates struggled. I am convinced this is a blessed season for Jimmie and Chad and they can do nothing wrong.

You can sponsor the #08 car driven by Terry Labonte at the NASCAR Homestead FL race for just $20. You will get your name on the hood (written VERY small) and the chance to vote for the paint scheme.
