Preview: NASCAR K&N Pro Series West
The NAPA Know-How 125 is coming up on Saturday
May 25th at Brainerd International Raceway. The 50 lap race (125 miles) will be run on
BIR’s 13 turn Competition Road Course.
Practice is slated from 9:45 to 11 AM, with Qualifying scheduled for
1:45 and the Race set to start at 4:40 PM.
Speed Talk’s Dean Reller will be
there with a LIVE update during this week’s show and will be providing updates
throughout the day on the web, facebook and Twitter. Here’s a list of drivers to watch.
Returning Drivers
#24 Michael Self (Golden
Gate Meat/Bay Bio Diesel/RCR Chevrolet)
The Park City, UT driver scored his first career win in
last year’s inaugural race at Brainerd.
Self would go on to record 2 more wins in 2012. Self started racing in karts on road courses,
so turning left and right is natural for this Richard Childress developmental
driver.
#26 Greg Pursley (GPM/Star
Nursery/Real Water Ford)
Hailing from Newhall, CA, Pursley is the 2011 Series
Champion. He won the season opening
event at Phoenix Pursley has 3 career
road course wins, all at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT. Pursley finished 3rd in last year's race.
#24 Cameron Hayley (Cabinets by Hayley/GPM Ford)
The 16 year-old from Calgary, AB slides into the Gene
Price Motorsports ride vacated by 2012 Series Champion Dylan Kwasniewski. He won the non-points Battle on the Beach at
Daytona International Speedway in February.
Has 2 top 10 finishes in 4 road course starts. Hayley finished 12th in last
year’s race.
#6 Derek Thorn (No. 6
Sunrise Ford/Lucas Oil/Eibach Ford)
The Lakeport, CA driver has 4 top 5 finishes in 5 road
course starts. Won the most recent race
at Stockton (CA) 99 Speedway and is the current Series Points Leader. His career best road course finish was 2nd
at Sonoma last year. Thorn finished 4th
in last year’s race.

Starts, 16 wins in 59 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series starts. Is a 2-time Canadian
Tire Series Champion. Ranger scored 2
ARCA Racing Series wins at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
#9 Dylan Lupton (Sunrise Ford/Lucas Oil/Eibach Ford)
The 19 year-old driver from Lakeport, CA sits 7th in Series point and is the leading Rookie in the K&N Pro Series West. Lupton is a teammate of Derek Thorn.
#29 Dallas Montes (NTS/Fight for Life Chevrolet)
The 19 year-old driver from Bakersfield, CA finished 6th in the last Series race at Stockton (CA) 99 Speedway.
Made 3 series starts in 2012, including a 2nd place finish at
Sandia Motor Speedway in Albuquerque, NM.
Montes currently sits 11th in Series Points.
