Hideaway Speedway in Isanti (MN) will host a huge QSAC event for R/C cars drawing competitors from all across the nation on Saturday May 5th 2012.  This will be the biggest MN event of its kind in well over a decade.

Hideaway Speedway ready for 2011

Hideaway Speedway is an awesome track just South of Isanti (MN).

This track races RC (radio controlled) cars at crazy speeds around this 1/10th mile high banked asphalt track.  When watching the races up close, the cars are just a blur as they race side by side at speeds nearing 50mph.  They also do full pit stops for fuel on the pit lane (photo above).

Dean and I had the opportunity to announce the races at Hideaway in the fall of 2010, we had a great time and throughly enjoyed the races.  Here is a link to the youtube video of winner Roger Newell
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6O3jiZEgWM

This facility also includes a building that holds thousands of die-cast cars for sale and the National QSAC 1/4 scale museum and a TQ (3/4 scale) car racing museum with tons of pictures, displays and cars on display.

The Hideaway Speedway will have racing EVERY OTHER Saturday, all summer long, beginning May 7th.  The race time has been changed to Saturdays at 12 NOON, instead of Saturday evenings, to encourage a larger crowd and higher car counts.  FREE Admission for all spectators in 2011.

Newell wins "Speedtalk 150"

#28 Roger Newell wins the "Speedtalk 150" at Hideaway Speedway in Isanti (MN). Newell held off a late race surge from #18 Scott Shramski.

Shramski was the fast qualifier and winner of heat race number one. He lead some laps early in the 150 lap main event but then lost two laps to the leader because of a spin during a fuel stop on pit lane. Shramski made up both those laps on the track but came up just short as veteran driver Roger Newell held on for the win.

Dean shot a bunch of video of all the race action at Hideaway Speedway and Jason did an interview with Roger Newell that will air on "Speedtalk on 1360" Saturday (Sep 18) from 10-11am on KRWC radio and http://www.krwc1360.com/
Hideaway Speedway is the home of an awesome 1/4 scale race car museum and NASCAR die-cast collectables store.

Hideaway Speedway will re-open this summer

These tough economic times have contributed to the likely closing of "I-94 Speedway" in Sauk Centre and "the Golden Spike" in Sauk Rapids MN for 2010.

I just got the word that a track that has been dormant for years will re-open this summer. Hideaway Speedway in Isanti. Its a 1/10th mile high banked track run by former I-94 Raceway TQ champ Darin Nelson.

To race on this track you will need a gas powered radio controlled (RC) car... they are approx 1/4 the size of a stock-car.

These cars just fly around Hideaway Speedway with speeds of around 50mph. A competitive used car will cost between $500-$1,000 dollars with a new one at about $2,000. Its a great way to feed your racing appetite even if you don't have room for race shop or the mechanical ability it takes to build and maintain a stock car.

Racing this summer is slated to begin the first week of June. For more information on racing or just going to see this unique form of racing call Darin Nelson at (763) 267-9161.
