Smoke back in Fargo

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart will be racing a dirt Late Model at Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo (ND) on Thursday June 23rd, 2011, the race was post-poned one day due to bad weather.  Tony finished 3rd in the dirt Late Model feature at Red River Valley when he raced in June 2010, he came back in July of last year and won his heat race in a Sprint Car.  The track is owned by the father of Donny Schatz, who races for Stewart in the World of Outlaw series.  http://www.redrivervalleyspeedway.com/

*Tony took a provisional and started at the pack of the feature event (June 23, 2011), he hit the wall on the first lap and got a DNF.  Here is video http://vimeo.com/25542431

Tony is a long time supporter of local racing, he owns Eldora Speedway and raced many years in Madison (WI) during an all-star race put together by fellow NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth.

I was lucky enough to sit with both Tony and Matt in the pit-stands in 2007 (photo above) as they watched a Legends car race with Matt's son Ross and Tony's dad Nelson racing.  Ross Kenseth is now racing and is the current point leader in the ASA Midwest tour Super Late Model series.
